Sadly, the only thing we’ve seen come to fruition this year is the Netflix limited series, Race for the Crown. Our editor, Matt, worked on this during the casting process. There are some colorful characters in the horse racing world. It is an intense industry and culture. I mean, people take this stuff very seriously. Its dangerous, fast-paced, cut-throat, and there are millions and millions of dollars involved. But beyond that are these incredible creatures that shake the ground beneath them as they run gloriously down the track.
The show is well done. We’re not horse racing fans due to ethical concerns, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the build up and drama. Definitely worth the watch.

Matt recently visited his daughters’ school as a guest art teacher for a 4th grade class. It inspired him to start sharing his process on YouTube. Here is his first long form video showing how he creates the initial sketches of ideas with some artist secrets sprinkled in.

This week in interesting AI-generated images:
And finally, the soulless creations of artificial intelligence. We utilize AI as a tool for some of our projects – it can save a lot of time when trying to create ideas that do not require nuance or customization. However, AI images inherently lack depth and emotion. They are a derivative of such things, a computer-generated representation of them, not the real thing. There is something very special about handmade, analog creations. You can mysteriously sense the difference. Or maybe it’s no mystery at all: you can recognize humanity.
